About Thanya Legal

A practice built on patience, discretion, and considered counsel

We founded Thanya Legal with one straightforward purpose: to give people dealing with pension matters access to legal support that takes their situation seriously and does not rush them toward decisions they are not ready to make.

Our Story

How Thanya Legal came to be

Thanya Legal was established in Bangkok following years of noticing a recurring difficulty: people facing questions about their pension entitlements often found themselves dealing with correspondence, forms, and processes that felt opaque and impersonal. Some had been waiting for months without a clear explanation of their position. Others had received letters from pension authorities they could not fully understand, and were unsure how to respond.

The practice was set up to address that gap. We concentrate specifically on pension matters — not because they are the most complex area of law, but because they are matters that touch people at particularly sensitive points in their lives. Someone whose pension has been delayed or disputed is often dealing with financial uncertainty and considerable stress. The last thing they need is a legal service that adds to the pressure.

Our approach is to slow things down a little. We listen before we advise. We explain rather than assert. We let people decide whether to proceed at their own pace, and we do not treat any conversation as a commitment to further engagement unless the person wishes it to be.

Over the years we have worked with expatriates navigating international pension entitlements, Thai nationals dealing with occupational and private pension funds, and individuals responding to decisions made by pension authorities. Each situation has its own character, and we approach each one accordingly.

Document Review Process

Every document we prepare or submit on your behalf goes through an internal review. We do not send correspondence that has not been checked for accuracy and completeness.

Pension legal advice in Bangkok — a thoughtful approach

Pension matters in Thailand can involve several overlapping frameworks: the Social Security Act, the Provident Fund Act, private pension arrangements, and — for international residents — treaties and agreements with overseas pension authorities. Navigating these frameworks on your own is possible, but it takes time and a careful reading of documentation that is not always written with clarity in mind.

At Thanya Legal, we have worked within these frameworks long enough to understand where the common difficulties lie: delays in processing, questions about entitlement calculations, disputes arising from employer contributions, and correspondence from pension offices that require a considered response. Each of these situations benefits from someone who knows what the relevant procedures are and can present your position clearly.

We work with clients from a range of backgrounds — Thai nationals planning for retirement, expatriates transferring pension entitlements, and people who have inherited pension-related concerns following the death of a family member. Whatever the starting point, our process is the same: listen carefully, explain the position plainly, and take any next step only when you are comfortable to do so.

Our Bangkok chambers are located in Chatuchak, accessible by BTS and MRT. We also offer consultations by telephone and video call for those who prefer not to travel or who are located outside the city.

Speak with us whenever you are ready
